Bhubaneswar, Aug 17
The state government has decided to submit the physical verification report of 42 mines covering Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts soon to the Justice MB Shah Commission. The report would be incorporated in the second and final report of the Commission pertaining to the mining scam in Odisha before it is submitted to the Centre, official sources said.
The Commission, so far, has submitted its first report to the Centre.
According to the Director of Mines Deepak Mohanty, the Commission had allowed fresh physical verification of 42 mines as the respective lease holders had objected to the method of mapping mines area on the basis of Google maps.
As per the directive of the Commission, the state government later set up five committees for physical verification of boundaries of mines.
The Commission had also asked the government to cover adjacent areas of leased mines while undertaking physical verification. On the basis of physical verification report, the government has prepared fresh maps at the laboratory of the Odisha Remote Sensing Application Centre, Mohanty said.
