Bhubaneswar, May 26:
Taking the first step towards implementation of the promises made in the BJD manifesto, the Odisha government today constituted a committee to construct an expressway connecting the northern and southern parts of Odisha that will run through the backward regions of western and KBK regions.
The committee, to be headed by works department secretary, will have members-chief engineers of road, national highway and World Bank. The committee will give its report about the project within one month, said a release of Chief Minister Office (CMO).
Besides, the committee will submit a report on converting two-lane roads to four lanes in KBK region.
It is to be noted that the BJD’s manifesto had stated that all major two-lane roads within the KBK region will be upgraded to four-lane status in next five years. The council of ministers had given in-principle approval to the manifesto on the day the new state government was sworn in on May 21.
