Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly and senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra today called on Governor SC Jamir at Raj Bhawan here.
As per reports, the Bolangir MLA discussed the prevailing drought situation, farmers’ suicide and starvation deaths in the state with the Governor.
Besides, the former Law minister also took up the Ramadevi Women’s University students’ detention issue and the adjournment of the winter session of the Assembly sine die curtailing the number of number of days of the session by 10 days.
“The drought situation is grim in some parts of the state owing to which the farmers are committing suicide. The suicides have reached a record high and the government is not prepared to accept this. Now, the government is claiming that crops would not be damaged due to unseasonal rains and if people of Odisha will vote it for the fifth term then we have nothing to say on it,” Mishra said.
The senior Congress leader said that it was a courtesy visit and it is a practice to meet the Governor after adjournment of Assembly sessions to apprise him of various issues.
