After a day of thorough investigation, the Commissionerate Police today arrested a close aide of the prime accused Batu Sunderay who, along with four other associates, had allegedly killed a 25-year-old youth at Gothapatna Chhak under Chandaka police limits on the outskirts of the Odisha capital yesterday following an argument over parking of a motorcycle.
The arrested man was identified as Dipu alias Sanjay Kumar Sunderay (31), who hails from the same locality.
“We have arrested one close aide of Batu today. Interrogation is on to ascertain the whereabouts of the other five accused persons involved in the murder case,” informed a senior police official of Chandaka police station.
The incident came to light after Ashok Nayak, brother-in-law of the deceased lodged a complaint at the local police station yesterday.
Acting on the complaint, police had registered a case number (89/2015) slapping charges under sections 302 and 34 of IPC against the accused.
Notably, Prasanta Parida, a resident of Madhupur village, was killed by six persons following a quarrel between them over parking of a motorcycle at Gothapatna Chhak yesterday.
