Chandrasekharpur police on Sunday arrested a person for allegedly duping 16 youths to the tune of Rs 6.5 lakh on the pretext of providing them job in Dubai.
The arrested has been identified as Sanjit Kumar Rath.
According to police, the accused was running a job consultancy office ‘Work in Dubai’ at GA-48 in Niladri Vihar area here and used to lure unemployed youths by promising them to provide job in Dubai. He had allegedly collected Rs 6.5 lakh last month from the gullible youths for Dubai journey and Visa.
He was found absconding after assuring them job within a week of offering fake employment letter.
One Shibabhadra Behera alias Surendra of Kendrapara district and others trapped in Rath’s net had filed a complaint at Chandrasekharpur Police station regarding the fraud.
After investigations, police found that Sanjit had fled away duping the job seekers.
However, police managed to nab the cheater yesterday and forwarded him to court.
