Bhubaneswar, Apr 1;
Odisha Jana Morcha (OJM) candidate in the Dharmasala Assembly constituency Prabhakar Nayak today filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) accusing Panchayati Raj minister Kalpataru Das and his son Pranab Balabantaray, the BJD candidate in the constituency, of gross violation of the model code of conduct in force for the coming elections in the state.
In his complaint, Nayak has alleged that Balabantaray has been moving around with lakhs of rupees in cash for distribution among disgruntled workers of his party, besides workers of other parties. He said money was being distributed to these workers in the presence of minister.
Nayak also alleged that the father-son duo had unleashed a reign of terror in the area and was threatening workers of other parties. He said the goons of the minister had dismantled the hoardings and torn off the banners of OJM put up on a private land in Jaraka market.
The OJM candidate has urged the office of the CEO to prevent the entry of Das into the area till the end of elections and seize the cash being carried around in vehicles belonging to Balabantaray and his family members.
