The Rs 32,000 crore worth Paradip oil refinery project was not affected by the quake, the Deputy Manager (Corporate communications), Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Sangram Mishra said today.
The various structures, columns, pipelines, vessels and equipment at the project site successfully withstood the impact of the earthquake. The Refinery project site also withstood the ferocity of the cyclone ‘Phailin’ which hit the Odisha coast in October 2013, he said.
He said the fact that the Refinery project survived these two major natural calamities unhurt, bear testimony to the quality, safety and reliability of the various materials and equipment used in the project as well as the quality of construction work of the Refinery, adding, the construction work of the 15 million ton per annum capacity project is nearing completion.
