Hours after stabbing a woman colleague, the accused was nabbed from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district this evening.
The accused identified as Nikhil Jena was arrested from Jagatsinghpur area, Police Commissioner YB Khurania said.
Jena would be produced before a local court here tomorrow, sources said.
On the other hand, the knife stabbed by Jena has been removed form the body of critically injured woman Bishnupriya Paikray (25) after over two hours of operation at a private hospital.
The victim was shifted to ICU for recovery and her condition is stable, hospital sources said.
It may be mentioned here that the accused stabbed the victim from back grievously injuring her. The woman works at a jewellery shop in Chandrasekharpur area in the city.
The incident took place when the woman was having lunch at the canteen of the famous jewellery chain. The victim had an exchange of words with store keeper Nikhil Jena following which the latter allegedly stabbed a knife in her back.
While the injured was rushed to a private hospital, police was informed about the incident soon after the incident.
The accused, however, fled the scene following the incident. A manhunt was launched to nab him.
