A five-member team of the State Vigilance raided the houses of two senior officials of the Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) in Odisha’s Cuttack city this morning.
Sources said the team raided the house of Achyutananda Routray, joint manager of Bhawanipatna Division at Mahanadi Vihar and the house of Prashant Panigrahi, deputy manager of Bhawanipatna Division at Tulasipur in the morning.
The team, during the raid on Routray’s residence Prabhu Prasad, have seized several incriminating documents, sources in the Vigilance Cell said.
Besides, the Vigilance sleuths also conducted simultaneous raid on Routray’s house in Nischintkoili in Cuttack and another house in Baleswar.
It may be mentioned that the State Vigilance on Thursday had registered cases against three employees of Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) on the charge of financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 10.27 crore which had taken place between November, 2009 and 2014.
Apart from these two officials, the Vigilance had also registered cases against junior assistant Bishnu Charan Behera and clerk Mahavir Das of the Corporation’s Bhawanipatna Division.
According to Vigilance sources, these four employees of the Corporation were involved in the financial irregularities in 38 projects on the construction of police stations, fire stations and police barracks in Kalahandi, Subarnapur, Nuapada and Bolangir districts which come under Bhawanipatna Division of the Corporation.
