According to sources, Pradhan had demanded Rs 5,000 from one Santosh Thakur of Talab village not to lodge an FIR against the latter over his involvement in a brawl. However, Thakur agreed to pay Rs 3,500 to which the ASI nodded.

Later, Thakur reported the matter in Vigilance following which a trap was laid by the anti-corruption agency and the ASI was caught red handed while receiving the bribe money from Thakur. The money was later recovered from the official, sources said.
