Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will make a formal announcement on drought-hit areas in the State after October 31.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary A P Padhi at the State Secretariat here today.
District Collectors have been asked to file panchayat-wise reports on crop condition latest by October 22 following which government will make a formal announcement after October 31.
“Now Collectors will provide us panchayat-wise reports on crop condition which is most important. Nuapada, Bolangir and Padampur subdivision of Bargarh district are the areas where they have found problem. Apart from these, there is problem in some areas in other districts as well. Drought will be declared after October 31,” informed Chief Secretary A P Padhi to reporters after the meeting.
Notably, according to official data as many as 98 blocks in the State have received deficient rainfall while Nuapada, Bolangir and Bargarh districts have been the most affected.
