Bhubaneswar, Dec 10:
Odisha Government plans to conduct an examination on the lines of OTET (Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test) for filling up vacancies in the secondary schools of the state.
School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra provided the information in the Assembly today while answering questions pertaining to shortage of teachers in the state.
“One of the major issues in teacher recruitment is we don’t manage to get the required number of teachers even after we get a clearance for recruitment. We are going to implement quality teacher testing in secondary schools from next year. By appointing quality teachers and conducting their orientation in regular intervals, we would be able to create a knowledge island at the block level,” said Mishra.
Earlier in the day, other MLAs from Ganjam district also expressed concern over the lack of teachers in various schools of the district and wanted to know the steps the government is taking to address the issue.
