Cuttack: Nibedita Paikray, a teacher of Rangani Sahi Primary School at Tulsipur village under Banki block in Odisha’s Cuttack district, has been suspended for allegedly forcing a girl student of class-IV to take off her clothes as a punishment over an allegation against the latter of stealing a sketch pen.

District Education Officer (DEO) Niranjan Behera had asked Block Education Officer (BEO) Himanshu Bhusan Samrath to submit a report over the matter. On the basis of the report, the teacher has been suspended.

Notably, the shocking incident had taken place on December 20.

As per allegation by the student, the teacher beat the girl in the classroom and asked her to remove her clothes in the presence of other students after an allegation of stealing a sketch pen was levelled on the girl.

She later narrated the whole incident before her mother. The brother of the girl, who also studies in the same class, told the same thing to his mother.

The teacher reportedly offended the girl’s mother on being confronted by the latter.

The family members of the girl had complained about the matter before the school headmistress besides lodging a written complaint in this regard at the Banki police station.

Banki police have registered a case under Sections 341, 323 and 294 of IPC.
