Odisha teacher beats girl students for refusing to clean classroom

Phulbani: As many as three girl students of Mahasingi Nodal Upper Primary School in K.Nuagaon block of Odisha’s Kandhamal district were today hospitalised after allegedly being thrashed by headmaster of the school for refusing to clean the classroom.

According to reports, Headmaster Harish Chandra Sahoo asked three girl students of Class-VII to sweep the classroom floor. After they refused to do so, he allegedly thrashed the trio following which they fell unconscious.

The victim students were admitted to the Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable now.

Tension gripped the school following the incident as the concerned parents demanded transfer of the headmaster. On being informed, Block Education Officer (BEO) Pramod Kumar Mallik reached the spot and started investigation. The accused headmaster was later suspended by the BEO.
