Khandapara, Feb 14:
Despite guidelines prohibiting engagement of children in any work other than studies, students of Nodal Madhuban School, Khandapara in Odisha’s Nayagarh district were used for unloading books from a truck at the block education officer’s (BEO) office here causing severe resentment among guardians and intellectuals here.
Residents of Khandapara have demanded stern action against the headmistress and the BEO for engaging students in such work.
Notably, while classes were on at the Khandapara Nodal Madhuban School on Wednesday, a truck loaded with books meant for Sarva Siksha Avijaan arrived at the BEO’s office located within the school’s campus.
Despite the driver and helper of the truck being present on the spot, students were seen unloading bundles of books from the truck and keeping them inside the office premises of the BEO.
