Odisha realtor held for duping customer

Bhubaneswar, July 2:

Commissionerate police today arrested the managing director of a real estate firm in the Odisha capital on charges of duping a person of Rs 13 lakh by giving him a false promise of providing a piece of land on the outskirts of the city.

ArrestThe arrested identified as Lingaraj Behera (37), managing director of Capital Golden Real Estate Developers Private Ltd.

The accused had allegedly collected Rs 13 lakh from Manoj Kumar Panigrahi of Bhadrak, presently staying in Badagada area in the capital city, in 2012 with a promise to provide him a plot with patta in Malipada under Tamando police limits. But he never handed over to him.

Following a complaint lodged by Manoj, the Kharavela Nagar police raided Behera’s office in Kharavela Nagar area today and arrested him.

He was later forwarded to a local court here.

Efforts are on to arrest other persons involved in the case, police said.
