Puri, June 28:
Anticipating trouble from a section of the servitors during the Rath Yatra scheduled to begin tomorrow, the Jagatguru Shankaracharya of the Gobardhan Peeth, Puri Swami Nischalanand Saraswati today requested the Odisha government to make adequate security arrangements for him as he pays his customary visits to the three chariots.
“We have apprised the state Home department to make adequate security arrangements for the Shankaracharya during his darshan of the Lords during the Rath Yatra”, Manoj Rath, spokesman of Gobardhan Peeth told the media here.
He said the Home department has been requested to make adequate security arrangements around the three chariots and crowded spots to ward off any untoward incident during the Shankaracharya’s darshan of the Lords.
The request has come in view of the war of words between the Daitapati Nijog and the Shankaracharya over the issue of devotees climbing the chariots and touching the Lords during the festival.
