Bhubaneswar, Jul 9:
The Commissionerate Police has started its investigation into the attack on photojournalist Jitendra Mohanty of leading Odisha daily ‘The Samaya’ by chit fund scam accused Ranjan Dash and his staff on Tuesday, but curiously the CCTV footage of the incident at Dash’ home has gone missing.
The cops have confiscated the close circuit cameras, laptop, desktop, CPU etc from Chit Fund Company Swastik India Chief Ranjan Dash’s home and are trying to figure out what exactly happened in and outside the house while the journalists were there.
After the CCTV footage was found deleted, the cops suspect it to be intentional and are trying to get help from a computer expert of the crime branch.
The other two associates of Dash, who were part of the attack on the photojournalist, are still on the run. Commissionerate Police are raiding different places to arrest them.
It may be noted that the journalists had assembled in front of his home on Tuesday after news broke that CBI was raiding his offices. Irked by the presence of journalists, Ranjan, along with his two associates, forcefully took away Samaya photojournalist Jitendra Mohanty inside the house and attacked him brutally.
The cops reached the scene and rescued him after another journalist present with him approached them for help. Dash was arrested and forwarded to court based on a complaint filed by Jitendra.
