Odisha Matric exam begins; 3-tier squads to curb malpractice

Bhubaneswar: The annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by the Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) began today at 2,818 centres across the state.

As many as 6,08,031 students have been enrolled to appear in the examination scheduled to conclude on March 8.

Candidates were asked to report at exam centres at 8 am today for the MIL paper. They were provided with Optical Mark Recognition or Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheets at 8.15 am.

At 8.45 am, they were provided with question paper attached with answer booklet. The candidates were given 15 minutes to go through the questions and examination began at 9 am.

In order to prevent malpractices by candidates, three-tier squads have been constituted.  At the District Education Officer (DEO) level, 58 flying squads and 37 central squads have been formed. Teachers have also been included in these squads.

As many as 302 Nodal Centres, including 23 at different police stations in remote areas, have been set up. Special attention has been paid for glitch free conduct of the exam in Maoist-affected areas of the state.
