CuttacK: As many as five persons, including a liquor trader, have been arrested for allegedly killing a man at Talabania in Jagatpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district and burying the body at riverbed.
According to reports, a heated exchange of words erupted between Shiva Singh (35), the deceased, and Sania Singh (30) over an issue when the former went to the latter’s liquor shop on July 29 around 9.30 pm.
Losing his cool, Sania hit Shiva’s head with a broken piece of asbestos as a result of which he fell unconscious. Later, Shiva went home after gaining consciousness.
On the very night, Sania discussed with his four associates about the dispute following which all of them reached Shiva’s house and allegedly thrashed him to death.
Next morning, they took the body to Mahanadi riverbed in Jagatpur and buried it there.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the family members of the deceased, police started investigation into the incident and exhumed the body from the spot.
The liquor trader and four of his associates, who were allegedly involved in the killing, have been arrested.
