Odisha govt withdraws autonomous status to Regional College of Management

The Department of Technical Education of the Odisha government has withdrawn the autonomous status of Regional College of Management (RCM).

The department, in a letter to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and the RCM authorities, has informed about its decision in this regard.

RCMA CollegeBesides, it has also intimated its decision to the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The BPUT will come up with a notification to this effect very soon, sources in the department said.

Informing the media on Thursday, secretary, Technical Education Chandrasekhar Kumar, said a decision on withdrawal of autonomous status of the RCM was taken at the Board of Management Meeting where it was decided to implement the order with immediate effect.

It may be mentioned here that the RCM students had staged a three month-long dharna in the city demanding degree certificates. Later the BPUT, in its Board of Management meeting, had taken several decisions including the withdrawal of autonomous status of the RCM.
