Khordha: The Odisha government’s School and Mass Education Department has ordered an inquiry into the incident of falling ill of over hundred students after consuming mid day meals served at the government-run Deulatangi Project Primary School in Khordha district on Wednesday.
The Department has ordered Khordha Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) to conduct a probe into the incident and submit a report at the earliest, official sources said.
According to District Mid Day Meal Coordinator, Gangadhar Sahu samples of the food including eggs served to students in their mid day meals at the school have been collected and sent to the laboratory for testing.
While 103 students of the school who were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here yesterday following complaints of nausea, head reeling and stomach cramp have been discharged after undergoing treatment, 25 more students were rushed to DHH after they suddenly developed redness in their faces and complained of nausea, head reeling and stomach cramp.
Barring one student, all have been discharged from the hospital after being provided with treatment at the DHH. The lone student has been kept under observation and will be discharged soon, DHH authorities said.
As tension prevailed in the area following the incident, the District Education Officer (DEO) yesterday suspended the school’s headmistress Bijayini Tripathy.
