Bhubaneswar, Feb 19:
The Odisha government is all set to hand over the case of the missing senior Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) official Ibrahim Sharif to the CBI, reliable sources in the state Home department said today.
According to the sources, the decision of the state government in this regard has come in the wake of the failure of the city commissionerate police to trace out the missing IBM official as well as his wife Salma Parveen Begum going public about her demand for a CBI probe.
Worried over the mysterious disappearance of her husband from the city here since November 25 last year, the harassed wife, in a press briefing on January 30, had said she wanted a CBI probe into the matter as she was unhappy with the sloppy inquiry by the Commissionerate Police.
“I had hoped that the state government would pay serious attention to this case but that I think had not happened. I would, therefore, demand that the case be handed over to the CBI considering that my husband is a class- I gazetted officer of the Central government,” she had told the media persons.
Begum had also informed that she had requested chief minister Naveen Patnaik to understand the pain that the family is going through and either order a speedy investigation or hand over the case to CBI immediately.
