Jharsuguda, Jul 1:
The Odisha government has taken the Brahma parivartan mess lightly and is acting as an agent of foreign conspirators, Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati has alleged.
The seer came down heavily on the government during a religious programme at Beheramal here yesterday.
“The people of Odisha are emotional on spiritual issues and are tolerant. That is why not much reactions were seen here. Had it happened anywhere outside the state or the country, the consequence could have been devastating,” Sankaracharya said.
Deploring the inordinate delay in the Brahma parivartan rituals, Sankaracharya sought the Supreme Court’s intervention in the matter.
“The Brahma Parivartan mess was anarchism and illegal. Appropriate legal measures should be taken so that no one dares to commit such disorder in future,” he suggested.
“Would the people forgive him if he commits a mistake as a representative of age-old Sanatan Dharma? Then in what circumstances it happened in Puri?” Sankaracharya asked.
As per the tradition, it is binding for the servitors to conduct the Brahma parivartan rituals at night blindfolded. How could they dare to delay the rituals fiddling with the Brahma? This is a recipe for disaster, he thundered.
It becomes a topic of discussion globally when the politicians get stuck in a lift for a while or there is delay in take-off of a helicopter for hardly 2-3 mins. However, the matter was confined to Odisha only despite the infusion of Brahma rituals getting delayed by several hours. It was not proper to play with the emotion of the people, he said.
