Odisha’s teenage sensation Ananya Sritam Nanda has stormed into the grand finale of India Idol Junior Season II after a power-packed performance at the last elimination round on Sunday night.
Ananya performed ‘Roz Roz Aankhon Tale’ and ‘Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon’ winning the hearts of judges and audience alike in the episode. The episode was dedicated to Kishore Kumar and his songs and had the top five contestants singing the tunes of Kishore Kumar. Amit Kumar, son of late Kishore Kumar, graced the show to sing along with them.
The latest to be eliminated from Indian Idol Junior on Sunday was Moti Khan, losing out on a place among the Top 4 in the highly popular show on Sony TV. Khan’s elimination left Ananya Sritam Nanda, Nahid Afrin, Nithyashree Venkataramanan and Vaishnav Girish in the fray.
The teen star took to her Facebook fan page to express her gratitude to her supporters after her entry into the top-4 and also appealed for votes.
“Thanks a lot for your support. All your blessings took me to the Grand Finale of Indian Idol Junior,” posted the young singer after getting into the Top-4. The post was liked over 7000 times in less than 24 hours.
“To vote for Ananya, the audience need to download Sony LIV app and vote. Alternatively, they can also log onto Sony LIV website or simply SMS IDOL ANA and send it to 5252525. The voting lines are open till 8 AM of September 4. One can cast up to 50 votes using his Facebook or Gmail ID,” she wrote in another post.
Now it is only the votes that matter to Ananya the most as it does for the other contestants too. Social media; especially twitter users have been twitting with hashtag #Vote4Ananya to support her and encourage twitterati to vote for her.
The young singing sensation, a student of Pokhariput DAV School in Bhubanesear, has her own fan page (https://www.facebook.com/AnanyaSritamNanda) where about 24,000 fans ‘like’ her and she keeps them posted about her performances.
It may be noted that the second season of Indian Idol Junior commenced from May 30, 2015 on Sony TV. The season is being aired on Saturday and Sunday nights at 8:30 PM. The series is mainly meant for kids aged between five to 15 years.
The show is hosted by Hussain Kuwajerwala, co-hosted by Asha Negi and is being judged by Hindi movie actress Sonakshi Sinha along with Vishal Dadlani, Shalmali Kholgade and Salim Merchant. Sonakshi, who was away from the show due to her stage shows abroad was back in the judging panel this week adding glamour to the show.
The winner of the show will receive a cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh from Sony Entertainment Television and other prizes from sponsors of the show.
But each of the other three who lose out also take back at least Rs 2 lakh.
