“We decided to call off agitation after the government gave an assurance to meet our demands within three months,” the president of the association said.

Notably, the state government had convened a  high-level meeting at the state secretariat on Saturday in two phases to resolve the block grant teachers’ agitation who have been sitting on a dharna at Lower PMG near state Assembly demanding full grant-in-aid (GIA).

School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati, Development Commissioner Upendra Nath Behera and additional chief secretary of Finance department were present in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, Narasingh Mishra, along with several leaders, went to the site of agitation at Lower PMG and held discussions with the striking teachers and lent their support to the protest.
