Defender Birendra Lakra from Odisha’s Sundargarh district will be part of the 18-member World Cup squad.
The team, led by mid-fielder Gurbaj Singh, will leave for The Hague in Netherlands on May 21 for the World Cup Hockey beginning May 31.
The squad was picked from 33 probables who went through a two-month rigorous training under coach Terry Walsh.
The team will be led by star mid-fielder Sardar Singh, while fullback Rupinder Singh will be his deputy.
India is placed in Pool-A along with Australia, Belgium, England, Spain and Malaysia.
