Berhampur police took Santosh Behera from Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar on a two-day remand for further interrogation.

On Thursday, Berhampur police had appealed to the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court to take Santosh Behera on a seven-day remand.

Notably, Quick Action Team (QAT) of Commissionerate Police had arrested Santosh along with three other persons from Naharkanta area on the outskirts of the capital city on charges of dacoity.

A mouser and one round of live ammunition were seized from his possession.

This apart, police found an identity card of a city-based karate training institute where Santosh had furnished Ramesh Jena’s quarters address as local address. Besides, the mobile phone seized from his possession during his arrest had Ramesh Jena’s photograph as its screensaver.

Further, police had stumbled upon photographs in which Santosh was seen posing in front of a luxury car and an SUV seized recently. The photographs are believed to have been clicked in the official quarters premises while Ramesh Jena was a legislator.
