Odisha cops face public ire while rescuing thieves, detained

Angul: Irate locals of Chandanpur village under Bantala police limits in Odisha’s Angul district today detained three policemen while they were trying to rescue two thieves caught by the villagers.

According to reports, the villagers had caught hold two persons for allegedly stealing electricity wires in the area late last night.

On being informed, police reached the spot this morning to rescue the accused. However, the villagers, instead of handing over the miscreants to police, detained three cops along with the thieves.

Bantala police station IIC later reached the spot and pacified the locals following which they agreed to release the cops and accused.
