Bhubaneswar, Mar 30:
Odisha contractual teachers have threatened again to begin protest on March 31 as the earlier promise by the Odisha government for their reinstatement has not yet been fulfilled.
Odisha contractual teachers association president Pradeep Kumar Pradhan has said in a press release yesterday that after the court directive the school and mass education department had brought out a calendar on January 6. But, the government is dilly dallying in reinstatement of Odisha contractual teachers.
Therefore, on March 31 the contractual teachers will restart their agitation.
We are not interested in listening to assurances from the government. On March 31, we will lock the DEO offices in Odisha. We will not leave the agitation till we have an appointment letter in our hands, Pradhan said.
Notably, around 3760 laid off contractual teachers had decided to put their agitation on hold after getting assurance from Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra for their reinstatement in the next three months in January this year.
He had promised appointment letters will be issued by March 4.
But, irked by no action yet by the government, the high school contractual teacher association has decided to take to the streets again.
