Bhubaneswar, Sep 7:
Odisha police today suspended a constable Shankar Behera for allegedly having allowed Pradip Sethi, chief of Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, an accused in the multi-thousand crore chit fund scam in the state, who is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College & Hospital at Cuttack to use his mobile phone to talk to someone.
“Constable Shankar Behera has been suspended on the basis of prima facie evidence found against him. Additional DCP has been asked to conduct a detailed inquiry on the escort guard who was in-charge. Further action will be taken after the inquiry report is available. We will take steps to track and stop such kind of misuse by both under trials and police personnel,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi here today.
There was a complaint that Sethi had used Behera’s mobile phone to speak to someone.
Notably, Sethi has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack ever since he cut his wrist in the Jharpada Jail alleging that he was not being provided with proper medical care.
Sethi is the hospital for over a month.
Sources said Sethi would be soon released from the hospital.
