Comedy artist Tattwa Prakash Satpathy aka Papu Pom Pom apologised for his controversial remark on Lord Jagannath during the closing ceremony of Puri Beach Festival here yesterday.
According to reports, while performing stand-up comedy on stage at the festival, Papu said that basil (tulasi) leaves over which street dogs pee everyday are used in the rituals of Lord Jagannath.
He further went on to say that those who utter ‘Jay Jagannath’ are sinners (papi), sources said.
Tension gripped the spot following the incident as several Lord Jagannath devotees present near the stage protested the act and created ruckus demanding public apology from Papu.
Normalcy returned after Papu apologised for his remarks on stage.
Notably, the Orissa High Court had granted conditional bail to Papu in the minor girl casting couch case. He is accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl on the pretext of giving her a break in movies.
