Bhubaneswar, May 25:
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik will skip prime minister-designate Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.
No reasons have been given for the chief minister’s decision to skip the all-important event that would formally herald the beginning of a new NDA government at the Centre.
Interestingly, both West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and the Tamilnadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa have decided to stay away from the swearing-in ceremony.
Observers say, the fact that the three chief ministers have taken the same decision, points to a coming-together of the three regional parties as an independent bloc in the Lok Sabha.
Sources said, Naveen Patnaik has given a go-ahead to his party MPs to attend the function.
