Odisha CM pays tribute Nelson Mandela on his 100th birth anniversary

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid rich tribute to South African anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela on his 100th birth anniversary and called him as “teacher of path of perseverance”.

“Tributes to #NelsonMandela on 100th birth anniversary; he showed the world the path of perseverance by cultivating the values of humanity, secularism and community feeling to empower all of us. #NelsonMandelaInternationalDay,” Patnaik wrote in his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a stunning sand art at Puri sea beach to pay homage to the legendary leader.

Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician and philanthropist. He served as the President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

He was born at Rolihlahla Mandela on July 18, 1918 and died on December 5, 2013 (aged 95) in Johannesburg in South Africa.
