New Delhi: Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee this evening presented Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with ‘Outlook Speakout Best Administrator Award’ at a glittering function here.

Patnaik was voted for the award from among six Chief Ministers- Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra,  Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, Manik Sarkar of Tripura, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Siddaramaiah of Karnataka and himself from Odisha through an online survey (voting) conducted by reputed English newsmagazine Outlook India.

After receiving the award Naveen took to micro blogging site twitter.com to say:

However, Patnaik became the winner as the Best Administrator in the country for his good work during floods and cyclones – Phailin and Hudhud — that devastated Odisha many a time during his 17-years of rule.

“The 71-year-old Naveen Patnaik has been a chief minister for more than 17 years in Orissa, a feat accomplished by only a few leaders, such as Jyoti Basu, elsewhere in the country. Many attribute the success of the Biju Janata Dal president, son of former chief minister Biju Patnaik, to his good work as an administrator. His handling of the situation arising out of the various cyclones is considered to be a copybook lesson in disaster management,” quoted Outlook.
