Patnaik was speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of 81st Odisha Police Foundation day at police headquarters at Buxi Bazar here.

“I appreciate the police crackdown on tender mafia, transport mafia, and organised crime which is praiseworthy. The drive against the anti-socials and criminals should be expedited. For the last 16 years, my government has been working for a safe and secure society. I emphasize the police should do its duty impartially. I call upon you to discharge your duties without fear or favour,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.

The state government is taking steps to upgrade the infrastructure, set up new units and training and recruitment for capacity expansion.

“It is good news that Maoists and Red sympathisers are shunning violence and joining mainstream due to state government’s rehabilitation policy,” he added.
