Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed satisfaction over significant decline in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) situation in the state.
During the last day of the two-day conference of the District Collectors, the Chief Minister hailed the efforts of the policemen in bringing down the Maoist situation under control.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister applauded the efforts of Superintendent of Police (SPs) and Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of LWE districts in the state.
Besides, the Chief Minister said that efforts are being expedited for setting up of new Commissionerate Police system in Sambalpur, Rourkela and Berhampur.
Buoyed by the arrests of several criminals including notorious criminal siblings Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta and former Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Jena, Patnaik instructed the SPs to take stringent action against tender and transport mafia without fear and favour.
It may be mentioned that the programme was attended by senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers apart from District Collectors and senior bureaucrats of the state.
