Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has extended an assistance of Rs 5 crore to the flood affected Tamil Nadu.
The assistance will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), official sources said.
Similarly, five teams of Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) have been kept in readiness to move to Tamil Nadu to assist in rescue and relief operations, informed Special Relief Commissioner Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra here today.
“We are in touch with Chennai, the moment we get a green signal the teams will immediately move for Chennai,” Mohapatra said.
Besides, all Odias those who had got stranded in Chennai have been rescued, Mohapatra added.
“All of them are safe. They have boarded a special train that has left Chennai for Kolkata. The train will pass through Bhubaneswar,” the SRC informed.
Over one lakh people from Odisha stay in different parts of Chennai.
