Bhubaneswar: Hours after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik fell sick while delivering speech at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on the occasion of 71st Independence Day, he was back in action after being refreshed with ‘nimbu pani’ (lemon water).

“Should have had adequate water for parade in sunny humid conditions. Standing under the sun felt little dehydrated. Perfectly fine now with two glasses of nimbu pani. Attending the rest of days programmes as scheduled. Must tell all of you to drink adequate water before going out in the sun to avoid dehydration,” the CM wrote on Facebook.

Notably, after unfurling the national flag, Patnaik, while addressing the gathering, was seen slowing down during his speech.

An evidently sweating Naveen eventually left the podium and sat on a chair. Despite illness, the CM received salute at the state-level parade.

However, the Chief Minister’s Office said he is completely fine and would attend all the other programmes scheduled during the day.

“The Chief Minister suddenly did not feel well due to humidity. Now he is completely OK and at Naveen Nivas (his residence),” a communique of the Chief Minister’s Office said.

The Chief Minister, who attended the police medal ceremony at Jaydev Bhawan here, told media persons that he is completely alright.
