Odisha cadre IPS officer, M Nageswara Rao, belonging to 1986 batch, has been appointed as Joint Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The senior officer will hold the post for five years.
Rao’s previous postings include Additional Director General, Railways and superintendent police (SP) of four districts Mayurbhanj, Nabarangapur, Bargarh and Jagatsinghpur, he was also Rourkela Railways SP and Cuttack as well as SP of Crime Branch.
A native of Andhra Pradesh’s Warangal, he was appointed as Inspector-General (IG) of Indian Railway Protection Force (IRPF) in 2008.
Rao is also a recipient of President’s police medal for meritorious service, President’s police medal for distinguished service, special duty medal and Odisha Governor’s medal.
