Jajpur: A class X student committed suicide here after failing to clear the annual Matric examinations, the results of which were declared today, family sources said.
The deceased has been identified as Padmalochan Mallik of Ratneswara Bidyapitha from Ratalanga village in the district.
According to reports, Padmalochan was depressed and consumed posion when he got to know that he has secured only 263 marks out of 600 in the exam conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE).
Following this, he was rushed to Allipur Primary Health Centre and then shifted to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital where he was announced brought dead.
“Padmalochan had expected to score either A1 or A2 in the Matric exam but he has got only 263 which left him tensed and depressed. When he vomited, we got to know that he had taken posion,” said Abhimanyu Mallik, relative of the deceased student.
Earlier in the day, The BSE announced results of the annual Matriculation Examination 2018. The overall pass percentage has been 76.23 per cent.
