Bhubaneswar, Sep 8:

According to the association, as many as 32,000 teachers and support staff from 2,208 schools will support the agitation and are likely to be part of it.

“We demand rollback of the teacher-on-call policy. Besides, the pay package should be similar for similar jobs. This government keeps promising and keeps forgetting. It forms committees and comes up with unacceptable solutions. We condemn its directives issued on July 26. We have no other choice but to hit the streets.” Said General Secretary of the association Prashanta Mohapatra speaking to reporters today.

It may be mentioned here that the teachers have been protesting demanding fulfilment of their ten-point charter of demands that include government takeover of grant-in-aid schools, uniform payscale for similar job profiles and provision of all the facilities to block grant teachers which are being offered under mass education and secondary education systems.
