Supporters of Odisha unit of BJP today took out rallies and staged demonstrations at various places of the state after some of the BJD supporters attacked the convoy of Union Minister Santosh Gangwar in Bargarh earlier in the day.
In Bhubaneswar, hundreds of supporters of BJYM blocked the road near Ram temple and demanded resignation of the Chief Minister.
“What happened today is utterly shameful. It is a disgrace that instead of providing security to the visiting Union Minister, ruling party members pelted stones at his car. We are going to give a befitting reply to the ministers of the Biju Janata Dal in coming days,” said Bhubaneswar BJP President Harekrushna Khuntia.
In Cuttack, BJP supporters burnt the effigy of Naveen and gheraoed the DGP office demanding arrest of the culprits. Besides, similar rallies were held in Bhadrak, Sundargarh and Bolangir as well.
