Bhubaneswar, May 29:
The Odisha BJP will hold its extended executive meeting on June 4 to do a post mortem of the party’s debacle in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls despite the Narendra Modi wave across the state.
The meeting, to be chaired by party president KV Singhdeo, will go into the reasons for the defeat in the twin polls and prepare a road map for the future in order to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
The meeting will also be attended by party Pravari Arun Singh, all Lok Sabha and Assembly candidates, executive members of the state, district Pravaris and Lok Sabha convenors, said party sources.
“We can be sure that the meetings will focus on consolidation of what we already have, and only then go on to discuss ways to regain lost ground and expand the party base,” said a BJP leader.
Knives are expected to be out for the state BJP president for failing to deliver in the state despite the Modi wave that swept the rest of the country ensuring a landslide victory for the party in Lok Sabha. Some party leaders, known as bete noire of Singhdeo, are all set to corner Singhdeo, though they would not demand the scalp of the president, party sources revealed.
Lack of organisational strength at the local level is being seen as the major cause of defeat of the party in the polls.
