Odisha: Around 100 trucks ransacked over death of woman in accident

Balasore: Tension erupted at Malgodown under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district today as locals ransacked around 100 trucks following the death of an elderly woman in a road accident.

According to reports, one Savitri Dei (61) of Buddhi Gochha slum sustained injuries after being hit by a truck enroute to the Malgodown. The truck driver fled the spot after parking the vehicle inside the Malgodown.

The victim was rescued by locals and admitted to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

Being irate over the incident, the locals stormed into the godown and damaged around 100 trucks parked at the spot by breaking windshields and doors. They also staged road blockade by burning tyres.

On being informed, police reached the spot and took the situation under control. Investigation into the matter is underway.
