The Odisha government today decided to set up two Odia language chairs in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, a minister said.

The two language chairs would be named after prominent Odia poets, informed state Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda.

While an Odia language chair in the Central University, Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh would be named after Bhaktakabi Madhusudan Rao, the other chair will come up at Gandhinagar University in Gujarat which will be named after Utkal Bharati Kuntala Kumari Sabat chair.

The two Odia language chairs will help spread the language besides encouraging research on it, Panda added.
