Bhubaneswar, Aug 22:
The all-party meeting, convened by Speaker Niranjan Pujari to end the ongoing stalemate in the Odisha Assembly, today unanimously decided that henceforth no members would be allowed to take any banners or placards inside the House.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh informed that the Opposition leaders have assured to cooperate with the government to run the House smoothly. On the basis of their assurance, the House would function normally from Monday and take up important issues in phases.
“It was decided that the House would discuss the Sarathi Baba case on Monday, the law and order situation on Tuesday, Nabakalebara and Brahma Parivartan irregularities on Wednesday, block grant teachers problem on Thursday and drought situation on Friday,” the minister added.
“The meeting was more or less successful. We have assured the ruling party members to cooperate with them in the discussion. But we will oppose and protest if the House does not take up our demands for discussion,” leader of the Opposition Narasingh Mishra told media persons after the meeting.
