Bhubaneswar, Feb 2:
A day after taking over as the Chairman of PG Council of Utkal University, Prof. Jay Krushna Panda vowed to do everything possible to restore the academic glory of the premier university in the state.
“In my two-year tenure as Chairman of the PG council, I will try to fill up the void in the academic domain that prevails in this University. Filling up the 51 posts which are lying vacant in different departments will be my priority no 1 and I will try to solve it at the earliest,” Prof Panda said.
Pointing a finger towards the Registrar of the University for not abiding by the order of the Vice Chancellor (VC), the new PG Council chairman alleged that there were many complaints against the Registrar and seven professors who are disturbing the study atmosphere in the University.
They are also not taking any classes in the university “I will raise the issue in the Syndicate and also take it up with the VC. Disciplinary action will be taken against anybody found guilty,” Prof Panda added.
He held the Registrar totally responsible for 51 posts lying vacant in the university.
“I will act in a harmonious way to address academic issues like filling up vacant posts of teachers, regular classes, finishing the syllabus in time and attendance of students” he said on Sunday at a press meet in the PG Council conference hall.
On being quizzed about the opposition from the eight teachers, including the Registrar, who have threatened to go to the court of law against him, Prof Panda replied everybody is welcome to approach the court. “If the court finds me unfit, it can remove me from the post. But I will fight against the un-academic work ethics that prevails in the university,” he said.
