Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 260 crore in a day-long tour of Jajpur district.
Among key projects, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a road to Nagada –which was recently in news for children deaths due to malnourishment and for the inaccessibility of the place. This road between Ashokjhar and Nagada will be built at a cost of Rs 13 crore.
He also dedicated a ladies hostel at Deogaon which will be built at a cost of Rs 7 crore.
“I am glad to dedicate a number of welfare schemes and development programs for the local people,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressing reporters after a public meeting in at Kaliapani.
Meanwhile, Congress activists opposed the tour of the Chief Minister.
According to reports, the cops had detained as many as 52 Congress workers as a precautionary measure.
