Miscreants have stolen three sandalwood trees from a temple which was inside the police barracks campus, near Madikunda chowk in the Phulbani district of Odisha, late Thursday night.
Yesterday, when the priests arrived in the morning for conducting puja in the Radha-Krishna temple they found the sandalwood trees missing and reported it to the police.
Dr Kanwar Vishal Singh, Khandamal SP, has ordered an investigation into the theft. Singh, visited the site and has deputed a DSP to submit a report within three days.
He has said that the thieves will be arrested as soon as possible and action will be taken against the police officials responsible for dereliction of duty.
